Elastomers

For more than 30 years, METRAVIB has been developing instruments to characterise the mechanical properties of materials in order to meet requirements from both industrialists and academics.

The METRAVIB DMA range of instruments has constantly incorporated new possibilities and thus enlarged its range of tests and analysis. As a result, it is capable of dealing with the complex mechanical behaviour of elastomers.
From a simple glass transition measurement to robotised analysis of the shear modulus for thousands of samples, the METRAVIB DMA range of instruments offers solutions that are suitable for all budgets and all technical requirements.

Polymers

Today, polymers are used in a wide range of industrial applications: resins, composites, adhesives, coatings, surface treatment...

As a result, researchers and industrialists have to be able to control polymer behaviour in a wide range of conditions (temperature, hygrometry, etc), in order to measure their visco-elastic properties (stiffness, Young’s modulus, shear modulus, viscosity, damping).

METRAVIB DMA instruments are particularly well suited to the characterisation of polymer behaviour (monitoring polymerisation, glass and sub-glass transition temperatures), creep, fatigue...

Composites

Used for high-performance solutions, especially concerning reductions in energy consumption, composite materials are often exposed to severe operating conditions (shocks, vibrations, temperatures).

Therefore, researchers and manufacturers must have full knowledge of their mechanical performances and endurance.

METRAVIB DMA instruments offer mechanical analysis possibilities incorporating a large number of parameters: stress, deformation, excitation frequency, deformation modes of bending, tensile, compression and shearing, as well as temperature, hygrometry and even special gaseous atmospheres.

Their capacity to adapt to the type of material (solid, paste, liquid) or to the specimen’s geometry (sheet, resin, film, fibre...) makes them perfectly suitable for characterising, developing and optimising composite materials.

Other materials

Dynamic mechanical analysis is an accurate method of measuring the intrinsic mechanical properties of materials, which may be linked with the product’s manufacturing process and its performance. Besides elastomers, polymers and composites, DMA can be applied to a wide range of other materials: asphalts, wood, paper, glass, ceramics, metals, alloys, foodstuffs, cosmetics...

METRAVIB DMA instruments offer manufacturers and academics solutions to analyse most materials, irrespectively of their type, condition or shape. Depending on the nature of the material and thanks to the large number of specimen holders available with METRAVIB DMA instruments, samples with different geometrical forms can be analysed, including sheets, cylinders, bars, films, gels, foams, liquids...
